“In Gear: Richmond Cycles” Exhibition to Open at the Valentine

RICHMOND, Va. – There’s no question Richmond is a cyclists’ town. This exhibition is a uniquely-Valentine take on the history of cycling in Richmond from the 19th century to the present day. The exhibition opens on Aug. 27 in time for the UCI Road World Cycling Championships in mid-September.  The exhibition runs through Jan. 3, 2016. There will be special extended hours nightly until 8 p.m during the cycling events from Sept. 19-26 at the Valentine. Read more

The Valentine Announces New Admission Prices

The Valentine will operate under new admission prices starting July 1, 2015.
Adults are $10 per person and groups, seniors (55+) and students are $8 per person. The new pricing structure includes free admission for all active duty military and children under the age of 18. Read more

Beard Wars Exhibition to Open at the Valentine

RICHMOND, Va. (March 11, 2015) – With the rising popularity in facial hair, the Valentine has partnered with Terry Brown Photography and the RVA Beard League to present Beard Wars, on display on the Lower Level of the Valentine,  March 26-November 30. This photography exhibition faces off portraits of Civil War generals against those of League members. Read more

Made in Church Hill Exhibition to Open at the Valentine

The Valentine, in conjunction with the University of Richmond (UR), Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Church Hill Activities and Tutoring (CHAT) and its Academy, is excited to present the exhibition Made in Church Hill, which opens on January 22, 2015 at the Valentine. The exhibition will be on display through June 28, 2015. A free community opening is planned for Thursday, January 22, 6-8 p.m. at the Valentine. Made in Church Hill was generously supported by the Robins Foundation, and, in part, by a grant from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Council for Community Engagement. Read more

First Freedom Center to Merge with the Valentine

First Freedom Center (formerly the Council for America’s First Freedom), the organization founded in 1984 by local historians and civic leaders to commemorate Virginia’s leading role in shaping the First Amendment to the U. S. Constitution, will become part of the Valentine, effective July 1, 2015.  Read more
