Controversy/History – A Tale of Two Cities: Richmond or RVA?

April 2, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Call for Information: 804-649-0711 Call for Information: 804-649-0711

Join us for the final event in the 2018-2019 Controversy/History series on Tuesday, April 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. where we’ll be posing a simple question: Richmond or RVA?

We’ll examine the history behind the names, what the different uses may imply and what it all says about the wider Richmond community.

Valentine Director Bill Martin and Coffee With Strangers RVA Kelli Lemon will present opposing data points that highlight the ongoing dichotomy of the River City, followed by presentations from Richmond Times-Dispatch Columnist Michael Paul Williams and VCU Brandcenter Professor and Co-Founder of Brand Federation Kelly O’Keefe.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in moderated discussions in concert with Matthew Freeman and at the end of the event, receive concrete action steps as a way for audience members to have a direct impact on their community.

Controversy/ History is free and open to the public.
