Controversy/History – Workforce Preparation: Race & Labor

January 8, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Call for Information: 804-649-0711 Call for Information: 804-649-0711

The Valentine’s free “Controversy/History” series continues on January 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a discussion on race and labor in Richmond.

We will begin with a tour of the 1812 Wickham House, our on-site historic home, to learn more about Richmond’s history as a city built and maintained by enslaved labor.

Next, expert speakers, including Dr. Ravi Perry of VCU, will discuss the evolution of labor in the region and what issues related to race and workforce prep we face today. Kelli S. Lemon will then moderate a Q&A with our speakers.

Dialectix Founder Matthew Freeman will facilitate group discussion. We are excited to align our event topics with The Capital Region Collaborative priority areas and to continue our partnership with Richmond magazine and new radio sponsor WCVE.
