Director’s Tour: Northside and the Civil Rights Movement

Many of the leaders of Richmond’s Civil Rights movement lived along Noble and Hawthorne in the city’s Northside. A quick stroll will pass by many of their residences in this remarkable neighborhood. Join fellow Valentine members for an exclusive Valentine Director-led tour.

Meeting place: St. Paul Catholic Church, 909 Rennie Avenue

Please note: Space is limited and reservations are required. Current members may reserve up to two tickets per membership.

Tour Notes

  • Valentine walking tours are typically between 1-2 miles in length. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water.
  • Accessibility: People of all abilities are encouraged to join us. If we can do anything to accommodate your needs, please let us know in advance by emailing tours@thevalentine.org.
  • Tours are held rain or shine. However, in extreme weather, a tour may be cancelled. Call 804-649-0711 x 301 to verify the tour will take place.
