Explore Shockoe Bottom, one of Richmond’s oldest neighborhoods and learn about Richmond’s beginnings as both a capital city and a city vested in human trafficking. Visit Henry Box Brown’s monument, the Devil’s Half-Acre, the African Burial Ground and the Valentine’s First Freedom Center.

Join the Valentine for Teacher Professional Development workshops and learn creative ways to incorporate Richmond stories in your classroom as you explore national and local history. All programs are free and participants will be provided with a $10 gift card to Ms. Bee’s Cafe, a Valentine Membership and a Certificate of Professional Development.
