Freedom on the Capital Trail Walking Tour

Commemorate #VA250 with the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation and the Valentine on this free Shockoe Bottom walking tour starting on the Capital Trail! Step into the past in Shockoe Bottom, one of Richmond’s oldest historic districts, to learn about the struggles for freedom that shaped our nation. Join Richmond’s most experienced guides as we explore this historic neighborhood that was both the center of the domestic slave trade and the birthplace of American religious liberty. We’ll visit Richmond’s canal walk, explore the remnants of Richmond’s industrial origins, and stop by the Henry “Box” Brown monument.

• Valentine walking tours are typically between 1-2 miles in length. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water.
