Join us for our upcoming History Hot Spot tour of Fourth Baptist Church, one of Richmond’s oldest and most influential African American congregations. Founded in 1859, the church stands as a symbol of Black resilience, community and faith. You won’t want to miss learning about incredible Richmonder Ethel Bailey Furman, the first practicing African American female architect in Virginia, and her impact on the church and the surrounding community.
This members-only tour offers a rare opportunity to step inside a space shaped by generations of Richmonders, explore its architectural and spiritual significance and reflect on the role of Black institutions in the city’s ongoing story.
