In celebration of the opening of the Valentine’s newest exhibition, Monumental: Richmond’s Monuments (1607-2018), join us to explore some of Richmond’s most interesting public monuments, from the earliest example on Capitol Square, to “hidden treasures,” like Richmond’s own Statue of Liberty and one of the city’s newest monuments, the Maggie L. Walker Statue. During our tour, we’ll discover how and why statues were erected in the past, and consider what Richmond monuments we might look forward to in the future.
