In 2020, the Valentine adopted an ambitious plan: completely reinterpret Edward Valentine’s sculpture studio, where the artist and first Valentine museum president created many significant Confederate artworks. The reimagined studio will provide visitors a space to confront and reckon with Richmond’s painful history and the museum’s early role in the spread of the harmful Lost Cause mythology. Join us for a behind the scenes look at the Valentine Studio curatorial process and share your feedback on the proposed designs.
