This exhibition encourages educators, students and museum visitors to explore Richmond’s rich architectural history and the city’s built environment. From St. John’s Church to the Hippodrome Theater to the Carillon, Richmond is full of architectural landmarks. This project will engage educators and students during the 2025-2026 school year to learn the full history of a select list of Richmond’s landmark buildings including their design, history and current preservation efforts. Students will then create their own model of the structure and write their own interpretive label. The exhibit of these models will open at the Valentine in July 2026, allowing visitors to gain a deeper appreciation for Richmond’s growth and development over the last three centuries.
