The Valentine seeks a highly organized merchandising intern to assist with the organization and inventory intake promotion of the museum store. Candidates should have a basic familiarity with Richmond history and be able to commit 12-15 hours per week.
Over the duration of the semester, the Museum Store merchandising intern will assist in a variety of projects primarily related to product supporting materials and the creation of an online store.
Other duties may include the following:
- Creating promotional materials for store merchandise using basic graphic design skills
- Working with Valentine’s POS system
- Coordinate store and merchandise promotions on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, Tumblr, Vine, Foursquare and other platforms
- Assist with special events and other administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications include: excellent written and verbal communications skills; experience with digital photography, knowledge of Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office (particularly excel); experience with POS systems; be comfortable with social media and learning new programs and have an interest in creative business/marketing; able to lift or carry up to 30 pounds.
Candidates should be currently pursuing a BA or MA in Marketing, Business, Guest Services/Hospitality/Retail Management, Fashion Merchandising, Graphic Design or a related field.
