Summer Pod Programs

Available for families of all ages, summer camps, homeschool groups and more! Let the Valentine create an experience for you and your loved ones. Whether you are a group of history nerds or a family interested in learning more about the city, we have safe and engaging programs available for any age group.

Explore programs below, available for private groups of 14 or less. Reservations and facemasks are required. 1-2 weeks notice for scheduling is recommended.

Museum Experiences

Self-Guided Wickham House TourVisit the Wickham House to learn about the people who lived and worked in this 19th century home (30 minutes). Free with paid admission.

Summer Games and Sunday ToysLearn about life in the Wickham House, visit the Valentine garden to explore hands-on artifacts and play popular games enjoyed throughout the ages. Available onsite or as outreach (we’ll come to you!). (60 minutes) $80 for up to 14 participants. Kid friendly (ages 2 and up)! 

Eye-Spy in the Wickham House – Explore the Wickham House with a Valentine Educator as special clues prompt you to look a little closer at this historic home. (60 minutes) $80 for up to 14 participants. Kid friendly (ages 4 and up)! 

Guided Walking tours

Ancients in the Neighborhood – Stroll through downtown Richmond and learn about architecture influenced by Egypt, Greece and Ancient Rome. (75 minutes) $150 for up to 14 participants. Kid friendly (ages 7 and up)! 

Figures of Freedom Shockoe Bottom Tour– Explore Shockoe Bottom, Richmond’s oldest neighborhood, and learn about the struggles for freedom that helped shape America. Eye spy activity included! (75 minutes) $150 for up to 14 participants. Kid friendly (ages 7 and up)! 

Highlights of Hollywood Cemetery – Enjoy a fascinating walking tour of Richmond’s beautiful and iconic Hollywood Cemetery. (75 minutes) $150 for up to 14  participants

Secrets Gardens of Downtown – Discover the Valentine Garden and then take a tour of the city center neighborhood, discovering secret gardens along the way. (75 minutes) $150 for up to 14 participants. Kid friendly (ages 6 and up)!
