Monumental: Richmond’s Monument Landscape Teacher Professional Development Workshop – Program full!

Join the Valentine for Teacher Professional Development Workshops and learn creative ways to incorporate Richmond stories in your classroom as you explore national and local history. All programs are free and participants will be provided with a $10 gift card to Ms. Bee’s Cafe, a Valentine Membership and a Certificate of Professional Development Hours.
Discover how Richmond’s monumental landscape was created. Explore how the Valentine uses primary sources to talk with students about the creation of the Lee monument on Monument Avenue and the Lost Cause narrative; as well as, how ideas of public memory and representation have shaped recent monuments in the city. The event is virtual, and you can join us on Zoom HERE.

Canal Walk/James River Tour Teacher Professional Development Workshop- SOLD OUT

Take a walk along the James River Canal Walk and learn how the river shaped our city’s history and development from the beginning to the present. The tour meets at 5th and Tredegar Street.
