Teacher Fellows Join the Valentine for Second Year
RICHMOND, VA – The Valentine will welcome two new teacher fellows to the team as part of the Teacher Fellowship program, now in its second year.
The Valentine Teacher Fellowship provides Richmond region teachers with the opportunity to gain professional development experiences while making a tangible impact on museum programming during the summer. Fellows work with the Valentine’s Education Department to develop resources for programs based on the Valentine’s collection, assess existing programs, and support teacher workshops over the summer.
This summer, the Valentine is excited to welcome Kisha Christian and Pam Plahs as the 2024 Teacher Fellows.
Kisha Christian has spent seventeen years at Oak Grove Bellemeade in Richmond City and will be starting at Barack Obama Elementary School in the fall. She currently writes curriculum for 3rd grade history and designs Project Based Assessment with colleagues. Pam Plahs has been making history come alive for young people for thirty years and is currently a Social Studies teacher at Swift Creek Middle School in Chesterfield County.
“The teacher fellows bring so much value to the Valentine,” says Marisa Day, Student Programs and Tour Manager. “We provide programming for nearly 15,000 students each year. Kisha and Pam will help guide us to create more impactful programming for students that aligns with the needs of educators.”
