The Development & Marketing Administrative Assistant is responsible for daily administrative activities in support of the Valentine’s development programs, Capital Campaign and marketing initiatives. This position maintains donor records, acknowledges donations, maintains files (digital and hard copy), makes deposits and prepares correspondence regarding the organization and its programs. The person in this position will be responsible for scheduling and managing daily donor lunches for the museum Director and development team. Appointment scheduling and management of the institutional calendar are also key roles.
This role will be best served by a person with great attention to detail with proficiency in maintaining a well-organized and efficiently run office. The ability to take efficient notes and capture meeting minutes is essential. This position works closely with the Director, Director of Development, Director of Annual Giving & Donor Relations, Director of PR and Marketing, Deputy Director of Communications and Director of Finance and will gain exposure to all of the workings of the museum.

Tour Guide

Valentine Tour Guides conduct Richmond History Tours that engage a diverse audience in learning about Richmond’s history on walking and bus tours. As ambassadors for the city and the Valentine Museum, Tour Guides are responsible for interpreting Richmond’s history for residents, visitors, students, and private groups, encouraging them to make new discoveries and historical connections through tours of the city’s sites and neighborhoods. Tour Guides work approximately 6-15 hours per month, scheduled as needed, including weekend and evening hours.
Visitor Services Associate (VSA)

Reports to: Visitor Services Manager

The Visitor Services Associate is the first impression for the museum and the museum store. He/she has responsibility for implementing the daily procedures at the front desk. He/she is a primary source of access and communication within The Valentine. This person answers and directs phone calls or other inquires, processes admissions fees, takes and processes reservations for the public walking and bus tours, conducts sales in the museum store, helps to provide security for The Valentine by issuing badges and keeping logs for visitors to restricted areas, and provides tours of the 1812 Wickham House. Weekend availability required.
