Ancients in the Neighborhood

Students identify Egyptian, Greek and Roman design elements in the historic Wickham House, Valentine galleries and throughout Richmond architecture, reinforcing concepts and culture through hands-on activities and fables.

Program Objectives: Students will identify elements of neoclassical architecture and design in the Wickham House and will examine classical ideas that influenced early American life and culture.

Includes pre and post-visit materials and videos that provide supplemental content and activities for classroom connection! Add an optional walking tour to explore  Neoclassical influences in architecture throughout the Valentine’s historic Court End neighborhood.

Program Fees & Details:

  • 60 minute onsite program | $5 per student
  • 60 minute outreach program | $5 per student
  • 90 minute walking or bus tour | $75 flat rate
  • Learning trunks | $60 flat rate per school with delivery within 30 miles of the Valentine
  • Virtual visits | $50 flat rate per program
  • Programs are always free for RPS and Title 1 schools. Funding available based on need for other programs upon request.
