Our Changing Community

Examine trades and recreation activities in early Richmond through artifact investigations, games and a craft.

Visit the historic Wickham House and Valentine galleries while learning about trades and recreation activities of early and contemporary Richmond residents.  Students engage with hands on artifacts, play games and learn about how life in the past is different than today.

Program Objectives: Students will identify primary sources, compare and contrast historical evidence, discover and identify jobs, learn about past and  present and talk about what it means to be a member of the Richmond Community.

This program can be modified to meet most grade levels and the Pre-k Creative Curriculum Clothing Unit!

Program Fees & Details:

  • 60 minute onsite program | $5 per student
  • 60 minute outreach program | $5 per student
  • Learning trunks | $60 flat rate per school with delivery within 30 miles of the Valentine
  • Virtual visits | $50 flat rate per program
  • Programs are always free for RPS and Title 1 schools. Funding available based on need for other programs upon request.
