Interpretive Resources Coordinator

The Interpretive Resources Coordinator is a two-year grant-funded position  responsible for developing and managing an interpretive resources plan for the Valentine Studio and Wickham House projects in alignment with project goals, as well as for existing resources, ensuring cohesion across museum initiatives. This position will collaborate with members of the Education & Engagement and Collections departments to translate project goals, programming objectives and exhibition content into interpretive resources to be used by both museum staff and the public. Resources include but are not limited to interactive maps and timelines, research guides, lesson plans, video/ audio media, oral history transcriptions, online image galleries etc.

Project Archivist

The Project Archivist is a two-year grant-funded position to process the papers of Edward V. Valentine (1838-1930) and begin processing the papers of his father Mann S. Valentine I (1786-1865). This work will support the reinterpretation two historic spaces on the Valentine Museum’s campus: Valentine Sculpture Studio and Wickham House. The Project Archivist’s work is conducted in accordance with the museum’s official Collections Management Policy and strict adherence to the American Alliance of Museums Code of Ethics for Museums.

City Historian

The City Historian shall be a resident of the Richmond region, possess enthusiasm for the community, have a strong public service orientation and demonstrate knowledge and a desire to share and promote local history. Valentine Tour Guides conduct Richmond History Tours that engage a diverse audience in learning about Richmond’s history on walking and bus tours. Visitor Services Associate (VSA)

The Visitor Services Associate is the first impression for the museum and the museum store. He/she has responsibility for implementing the daily procedures at the front desk.  He/she is a primary source of access and communication within The Valentine. This person answers and directs phone calls or other inquires, processes admissions fees, takes and processes reservations for the public walking and bus tours, conducts sales in the museum store, helps to provide security for The Valentine by issuing badges and keeping logs for visitors to restricted areas, and provides tours of the 1812 Wickham House.  Weekend availability required.
